We believe that our strategic partnerships are one of the unique things about First Covenant Church. You'll find that how we live into our mission and vision is in large part through partnerships. We believe that we go farther, and do better, when we do it together. Here at First Covenant we live it out through the way we use our building, invest in our neighborhood, and work together in ministry opportunities. It all comes back to partnership.

CHURCHES AND MINISTRIES SHARING OUR SPACE

  • Asylum seekers come to the US seeking protection from persecution or human rights violations. They come from the most troubled regions of the world in hope of finding safety and a normal life. While completing the years-long asylum process, they face many material challenges, the greatest one being the ability to find stable housing.

Jonathan House extends shelter, hope, and healing to asylum-seekers in Minneapolis/St. Paul by offering supportive housing, strategic connections, practical assistance, and a welcoming community with a desire to help our new friends recover from forced displacement and begin to rebuild their lives. First Covenant provided the building for the first Jonathan House and began partnering with IAFR to house asylum seekers in Fall 2017.

  • Urban Roots’ mission is to cultivate and empower youth through nature, healthy food, and community. First Covenant hosts one of Urban Roots’ six urban gardens on the East Side of Saint Paul. Youth interns plant, maintain, and harvest small-scale crop production within our urban gardens. Urban Roots promotes entrepreneurship by teaching youth interns to manage gardens and crops for distribution to community supported agriculture (CSA) shares, Farmers Market, Roots for the Home Team, hunger relief efforts, youth families, restaurants and small-batch food preservation for seasonal sales. Program participants are also involved in creating sales and marketing materials for the Farmer’s Market and other retail outlets.

PARTNERS IN MISSION

At First Covenant we are fortunate to have partners that we work closely with in our neighborhood, state, and around the world. As we partner together in mission and ministry we go further together. Learn more about these unique partnerships below.

  • https://rootsmc.org/First Covenant is a parent church to this church plant in the Hamline-Midway area of Saint Paul. When Roots talks about “church,” they’re not talking about a building. They are talking about a people, a community that is seeking God, learning how to trust Christ, and experiencing new life in Jesus. Roots has been meeting since 2014. Current First Covenant and Root's youth ministries gather together for a combined youth group experience called "Youth Dinner Church" every other Wednesday.
