SUMMER 2021: RECOMMIT, RECONNECT, RECONSTRUCT
-
Take a bite out of the Bible this summer -- one week at a time.
This summer we're reading through the book of Nehemiah together. Each household is challenged to read one chapter each week. Track your progress on your own caterpillar and turn it in at the end of the summer for a gift card to Connie's Creamy Cone. That's right, snack on scripture and get a snack of your own.
We have some tools to help you out:
- download your summer tracker here
- visit our Nehemiah video showcase to hear each week's chapter being read, as well as background information and more to help the text come alive

THE MAKING OF BIBLICAL WOMANHOOD
Wednesday, July 14 at 7:00pm

Where did the ideas of Biblical womanhood -- the belief that God designed women to be submissive wives, virtuous mothers, and joyful homemakers -- come from? The Bible or a series of clearly definable historical moments? Read the book and gather together to discuss. Led by Joe Mann.
THE LION, THE WITCH, AND THE WARDROBE (INTERGENERATIONAL BOOK CLUB)
Wednesday, August 4 at 7:00pm
Pastor Mike and Ann Hotz's home
Join this faith adjacent book club as we dive into this classic by C.S. Lewis. There is something for you every Monday this summer! Our Monday rotation looks like this:
First and Fourth Mondays: Out of Sorts Book Study
Monday July 5 and 26, August 2 and 23 from 7:00pm - 8:00pm
Greg and Angela Swenson's home
Bring your questions and let's learn together how to be as comfortable with uncertainty as we are with solid answers. We will discover anew depths that will remain secure even through the storms of life. Greg and Angela invite caregivers to bring their children and youth to enjoy their swimming pool during the book study. Volunteer lifeguards will be available.
Second Mondays: Bible Through Lectionary
Monday July 12 and August 9 from 7:00pm - 8:00pm
Greg and Angela Swenson's home
Often when we pick up a Bible, we're looking for a particular story or illustration. Another way is to follow the lectionary calendar which follows a rotating pattern of God's story over a three year cycle. Join us as we follow the lectionary and let the Bible speak to us on its own terms. Children and youth are welcome to enjoy the Swenson's swimming pool during the Bible study, volunteer lifeguards will be present. We are reading Mark 6:14-29 in July and John 6:35, 41-51 in August.
Third Mondays: Community Cookouts
Monday June 21, July 19, and August 16 from 5:30pm - 7:30pm
First Covenant Church of Saint Paul
These are fun gatherings for the whole church family! We grill, you chill. Meat, buns, and chips are provided. Please bring yourself, your sides, a beverage, and a chair. Games and fun activities will be available for all as we enjoy the time outdoors reconnecting with one another.
